Tornado Warning

We have had two tornado warning this week.  The first came Monday night when my cell phone went off with the alert from the county to take shelter now.  We piled into our bathroom with the ipad to figure out where the storm was.  Thankfully it was 15 miles north of us.

Today at school pickup we were all trying to beat the storm we knew was coming.  The first alert came right before dismissal at 3:30pm. With my kids being walkers, I was waiting outside school for them to come out. I soon realized they were not coming and dark clouds were getting closer.  Other parents and I went around to gym doors to find out what was going on.  We were hurried inside because the school was under a Shelter Emergency Lockdown because of a tornado warning. We went through the fire doors into the hall and took a tuck position along the wall with all the students. After 10 minutes phones were going off and I received this alert.

The NWS has issued a Tornado Warning for Montgomery County.

This is a dangerous and potentially life threatening situation. Residents are strongly urged to seek shelter.

Blake soon called me to make sure I was safe. We all stay tucked down until 4:15. It was a long 40 minutes to be kneeling on the floor. Then it was a long process to get the kids released and finally home at 5pm. Thankfully the tornado touched down 3 miles south of us and we did not loose power. It made for a memorable day at school.

  1. I'll bet that will be an event you won't forget! I still remember the one in Vancouver when I was teaching Jr. High...had a bunch of freaked out teen-agers (and I wasn't too far behind them!)
